Chase the Winter Blues Away

by sharing good times and good books at the next Night Out with Authors event on

Monday, January 20

featuring   Mark Leslie,  Kate Maddison,   Margaret Moore and
Open Mic for Writers*

Doors Open at 6:30 at the Tranzac Club Readings begin at 7:15

Mark will be reading "a dark humour snowman story from ONE HAND SCREAMING."

(I don't know about you, but this I gotta hear!)

Kate will be reading from her Young Adult novel,
THE INCREDIBLE CHARLOTTE
SYCAMORE.

(Interested in steampunk? Come and ask Kate about writing that genre.)
Margaret will be reading from her
upcoming release,
CASTLE OF THE WOLF.

(That's not the actual cover.  Nor has Margaret ever lived in a castle.  So how much research does she do to make it sound like she has?  Join us and find out!)

 More about Mark:

Mark Leslie, whose writing style has been described as "Twilight Zone" fiction, is a writer, editor and bookseller. Mark's affinity for storytelling started with stick figure cartoons and turning any opportunity for turning elementary school creative writing assignments into epic tales and adventures. Mark hammered out his first "novel" on an Underwood typewriter when he was 13 years old. That 30,000 word novel, an epic fantasy adventure (inspired by D&D characters) was epicly forgettable, but a good exercise and learning experience.

Mark's books include ONE HAND SCREAMING, HAUNTED HAMILTON, SPOOKY SUDBURY and the forthcoming novel (2014) I, DEATH.  He is the editor of the following anthologies:  NORTH OF INFINITY II, CAMPUS CHILLS and TESSERACTS SIXTEEN: PARNASSUS UNBOUND.  2014 will see TOMES OF TERROR: Haunted Bookstores & Libraries, I, DEATH and the 10th Anniversary Edition of ONE HAND SCREAMING.

When he is not writing, Mark tacks "Lefebvre" back onto his name and works as Director of Self-Publishing & Author Relations for Kobo, overseeing the Kobo Writing Life team. He lives in Hamilton, Ontario, with his wife and son.

More about Kate:

When Kate Maddison wrote the YA steampunk mystery, The Incredible Charlotte Sycamore, her research included a trip to London for a behind-the-scenes tour of Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle. In addition to writing YA, Kate has written over twenty historical romance novels under the pen name Kate Bridges. When her computer is turned off, you might find her with her family, walking the family dog, hiking the escarpment, or taking photos of the sunrise.

More about Margaret:

Award-winning author Margaret Moore actually began her career at the age of eight, when she and a friend concocted stories featuring a lovely, spirited damsel and a handsome, misunderstood thief nicknamed "The Red Sheik." Unknowingly pursuing her destiny, Margaret graduated with distinction from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature. During that time, she also became a Leading Wren with the Royal Canadian Naval Reserve.

Margaret sold her first historical romance to Harlequin Historicals in 1991. Since that time, she's written over 40 historical romance novels and novellas for Harlequin and Avon Books, as well as a young adult historical romance for HarperCollins Childrens Books. Her books have been published in France, Italy, Germany, Great Britain, Australia, Belgium, Switzerland, Brazil, Korea, Japan, Sweden, the Netherlands, Russia, Poland and India.

Her next release, a medieval historical romance, CASTLE OF THE WOLF, will be published in July by Harlequin Historicals.

More about Kelley -
Kelley Armstrong has been telling stories since before she could write. Her earliest written efforts were disastrous. If asked for a story about girls and dolls, hers would invariably feature undead girls and evil dolls, much to her teachers’ dismay. All efforts to make her produce “normal” stories failed. Today, she continues to spin tales of ghosts and demons and werewolves, while safely locked away in her basement writing dungeon. She’s the author of the “Otherworld” urban fantasy series, “Darkest Powers” & “Darkness Rising” teen paranormal trilogies as well as the upcoming “Cainsville” modern gothic series and “Blackwell Pages” middle-grade fantasy adventure trilogy (co-written as K.L. Armstrong with M.A. Marr).  She lives in southwestern Ontario with her husband, kids and far too many pets.

You can find Kelley on her website,
blog,
Facebook,
Twitter
and GoodReads.

More about Ann
During her successful career as an administrator, the call of the past and the stories in Ann's imagination brought her to a fork in the road. After her first book was published in 2006, she decided to write full time and hasn't looked back. She has given talks on the various aspects of publishing as well as workshops on the craft of writing. She blogs regularly about her research on her Regency Ramble Blog.

Over the years several of her books have won awards including an honorable mention by Foreword Magazine. She is particularly proud of her 2009 win of the Daphne DuMaurier Award for Excellence in Mystery/Suspense for The Rake's Inherited Courtesan. Recently She finalled in the Booksellers Best and the Golden Quill.
